Beauty is Not Expensive, I Swear.

 May 15, 2012

A lot of friends ask me, "DO ALL THE MAKE-UP BRANDS YOU USE ARE "BRANDED"?" or "SHOULD I ONLY USE BRANDED/EXPENSIVE MAKE-UP TO ACHIEVE THE SAME LOOK?"

Listen out, gorgeous! My answer to the first question is, YES. I am more comfortable working on products that I am familiar with and I have known the quality of; not only based on popularity but on personal experience as well. My answer to the second question is NO. I've always believed that beauty should not at all be expensive.

Although all products I use are the "known" brands, once in a while; I also entertain and try out other "unknown" brands, because I believe in "FAIR OPPORTUNITY". I am an honest person, and I tell you--I have about 2 or 3 beauty products in my make-up case that is of no brand or what some people call --"cheap makeup" :) Hey, let's be honest. Not all of us can actually afford to buy a whole set of MAC or Bobbi Brown products all in one-go. Sometimes, we don't have enough budget that we try to find an alternative to these brands.

And this is the exact reason why I wrote this blog post.

NOTE: Beauty is and never will be expensive. You can achieve expensive make up looks for less!

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN HIGH-END AND DRUGSTORE COSMETICS?

The key difference between most high-end and drugstore cosmetics is:

1) Pigmentation
2) Color Selection
3) New Technology & Science

However, for wearing makeup on a day-to-day basis, these factors are not at all important, in my opinion.

The makeup you buy, regardless of price, is not going to look best if you don't have the right tools to use it. So, I suggest, you buy a good set or brushes that will help you blend and apply makeup so that it looks expensive! :)

I started make-up with this set of Sephora brushes- the Mini Clear Brush Set.

The set includes a mini goat hair blush brush, eye shadow brush, eye shadow applicator, eyeliner brush and lip brush. For beginners, it's a really great set and it's also travel-sized so it's extremely easy to stash on your shoulder bag and you're good to go! I bought it for like only 85AED.

...and I am so looking forward to getting one of these tangerine bad boys! Love, love, love the color! It's Sephora's newest brush set, the Argentine Artistry Brush Roll.

The extra-long, artist-inspired handles fit comfortably in the hand and the flash of exuberant orange will brighten any makeup routine!

So, before heading to the shopping mall to shop with your girlfriends and splurge cash on expensive make-up. THINK TWICE ;)
