Wearing Specs?! You Can Still Look Chic Even Wearing 'em!

 April 14, 2012

I've heard a couple of friends tell me that they DON'T WANT TO WEAR MAKEUP just because they wear EYEGLASSES. That there is no use trying to prettify your eyes when the specs just hide all those colors and eyeliner applied.

Well, there is a way to make those eyes POP even if you wear specs! Wanna know how?! Just follow these easy steps for my fail-proof eye makeup specially created for people who wear specs everyday!

STEP 1 - Prep your eyebrows.

Since wearing glasses or specs actually frames your face, it is always safe to prep your eyebrows according to the shape of your specs.
Remember, A is where you begin lining your brow, B is your arch point and C is where you end your brow. Take your brush and angle it from the side of your nose to the end point of your brow (C) and make sure you line it up until that point only.

Moving on....

Conceal your flaws!

STEP 2 - Conceal those icky under eye circles & bags and other redness....

Since wearing specs actually cast a shadow specifically under your eyes, you wouldn't want to look like a panda all day, and people will think you pulled an all nighter when you did not :(

Conceal your under eye circles and eye bags. You know you don't want to be seen with them (Trust me, you don't want to!). Also apply concealer on the sides of your nose and the sides of your lips, to hide any redness in there. Smudge/brush/sponge away the concealer, making sure it blends really well with your skin tone. I used the Sephora Smoothing & Brightening Concealer.

Add eyeshadow to half of your eye lid

STEP 3 - Minimal colors, bright, bold & defined lines.

I should probably harvest my eyebrows..umm...now?!?

I didn't use any primer or any creme shadow. Just a plain matte eye shadow (whatever your favorite color is). I used Maybelline Eye Studio Plush Silk Shadow in blue :) I just shaded half of my eyelid, and applied it evenly to the border of my eye.

If you are using a palette with the same color hue, use the DARKEST shade available and line the crease of your eye ball, to the shape of your eyes. This will make your eyes pop, even if you wear your specs. See the  darker shade applied on the outer crease of my eyelid? Do the same with the darkest swatch in your palette.

STEP 4 - Line your eyes and be BOLD, create those WINGS.

This is the most important step in this look. You can either use your favorite liquid eyeliner or your conventional pencil liner. Line your upper lash line from the inner to the outer edge, and create a wing upward. Darken it further by adding more of your product and do the same on your lower lash line, including your water line. Towards the outer edge, create a downward wing --the upper and lower wing should look as if the "broke up and parted ways" (hahaha..sorry, couldn't think of a better description than "break-up"..lol). I used my Rimmel Exaggerate Liquid Liner and dabbed Sephora Colorful Mono Eyeshadow in 06 Matte Black.

STEP 5 - Highlight the WINGS created.

Using your angle brush, dab a tint of your highlighting powder (I used Sephora Colorful Mono Eyeshadow in 25 Porcelain) to highlight the space in between the two wings.

Now....your "used-to-be-boring" look with specs, can be a glamorous look now! Be chic, be shabby! See how the makeup is still seen even with your glasses on?

SEE THE DIFFERENCE?

Plain, old, boring, look with specs :-I

Be chic with your specs on :)

For finale, you can brush your favorite blusher on the apple of your cheeks and put a little lipstick and gloss on your lips to complete the look!

So, the next time you head out to the office and have to wear your specs--remember, you can still look fab even if you have to wear 'em!
